Steam generators
The chemical cleaning of the steam turbine generator is probably the most important and most critical maintenance work. This chemical cleansing consists in removing hard scale from the inner surface of the serpentine using acids - usually HCL.
It is a job requiring specialization, special equipment and great experience since it poses a risk to both the equipment and the personnel performing it.
It is mandatory maintenance work especially when the quality of the steam generator's feedwater is not very good (high hardness).
It protects the steam generator from perforations while greatly increasing the performance of the system, since after its execution the inner surface of the coil is relieved of the heat-free salt leaks.
It is recommended to run it once a year, especially in boiler rooms where the efficiency of softening the feedwater is low.
